Qotbeddin Sadeqi to stage Lorca’s “Blood Wedding”

TEHRAN- Iranian director Qotbeddin Sadeqi plans to stage “Blood Wedding,” a tragedy by the Spanish dramatist Federico Garcia Lorca, at Iranshahr's Samandarian Hall on September 26. 

The play explores themes of love, tradition, and death. It follows the story of a bride who is about to enter an arranged marriage but falls in love with her former lover. Their love affair ignites a family feud that escalates into a tragedy.

Through the story of the bride's struggle with the expectations placed upon her by her family and society, "Blood Wedding" delves into the tension between individual desires and traditional expectations. The play is renowned for its vivid and poetic language and its exploration of complex themes that continue to resonate with audiences today.

Hannah Estifai, Raha Asghari, Zahed Barzegar, Danesh Khorshidi, Hamed Dalirian and Elaheh Ranjbari are the main members of the cast for the play thet will remain on stage until October 31.
