TEHRAN – Over 221.171 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas was processed in South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) during the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20), the managing director of the complex announced.

Ahmad Bahoush said that this amount of gas was processed relying on the power and knowledge of Iranian youth, adding; “We hope to provide the necessary conditions for gas supply to the domestic and industrial sectors of the country by taking the necessary measures and carrying out detailed and regular overhaul operations in this year as well.”

“Last year, through the significant and innovative measures and domestic knowledge of the managers and employees of the South Pars Gas Complex, more than 190,509 billion cubic meters of sweet gas were injected into the country's national lines, and this volume of production has grown by three percent compared to 1400, and we hope to increase this amount significantly this year”, the official added.

Bahoush considered the growth of production to be the most important goal of the thirteen refineries of this group in 1402, considering the naming of this year by the Leader as the year of “Inflation Control, Production Growth”, and said: “Considering that the roadmap in 1402 is defined as "Inflation Control and Production Growth", we will move forward to increase the production of gas and by-products with the efforts of the experienced, innovative and efficient young people of this complex.”

South Pars Gas Complex operates 13 refineries that process the natural gas extracted from the huge South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, that is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
