The challenge of being faithful to the reality
Nusratullah Mahmudzadeh is one of the best and mature authors of our country.
According to him, he had spent 15 years authoring “Muhammad, the Christ of Kurdistan” which is about Mohammad Borujerdi, the commander of the western army of the country.
This time in the form of a short story, his latest book titled "Man Laundering" has been published which is stories that deal with the effects of war and the problems of the veterans of the 8 years of sacred defense in society.
* How come you decided to write a new book in the form of short stories?
I do extensive and different research for my works about different characters; In this way, I get to know different people, situations and places of the war. In these researches, I encountered various issues of the war, in the heart of which I encountered incidents and events that were worthy of reflection.
As a writer, I felt it was my duty to produce something about veterans, so I was inspired to publish a collection of stories in book form. Although these stories are somewhat bitter, they needed to be written. The problems of veterans need a strong solution
* How different is the world of biography writing and short stories?
In biography writing, from the beginning, you commit to express the reality, but in the author's pen; When the reader reads a biography, he must really face the same character that existed, this is a difficult task. Faithfulness to the reality is the most difficult and important thing in writing a biography. But in writing short story, there is a specific subject; and the author's hand is free in processing.
* Do you think it is not necessary to change the approach in the production of war literary works?
Yes, there is a need for a new approach in the war literature. We have had remarkable successes, but we need an approach on how a novel can have something to say and be new at any time and in any society. We must write books that never get old and are fresh for every generation and have readers at any time.
