Iran freestyle runners-up at 2022 World Cup

TEHRAN – Iran freestyle team lost to the U.S. 6-4 to finish runners-up at the 15th World Cup on Monday.

Ali Savadkouhi stunned everyone by beating Jordan Burroughs at 79kg.

The 2022 Wrestling World Cup was held in Coralville, Iowa on Dec. 10 and 11.

The freestyle competition featured the U.S., Iran, Japan, Georgia, Mongolia and an All-World team made up of wrestlers who placed highly in international competition, but whose countries failed to qualify for this event.

All-World team defeated Georgia 8-2 to win the bronze medal.

Also, Ukraine defeated China 6-4 to clinch the women's World Cup. A story that will be told for years to come.
