TEHRAN – Iran football 5-a-side team defeated Australia 8-0 at the 2022 International Blind Football Federation (IBSA) Blind Football Asia/Oceania Championships on Sunday.

Behzad Zadaliasghar netted a hat trick and Sadegh Rahimi scored a brace for Team Iran.

Hossein Rajabpour, Morteza Karimi and Ahmad Shahhosseini scored a goal each.

Iran will play Uzbekistan on Monday.

Group A of consists of India, Thailand, China, Malaysia and Kazakhstan.

Iran, Australia, Uzbekistan, Japan and South Korea are in Group B.

The competition takes place in Kochi, India from Nov. 11 to 18.

The event serves as qualifier for the World Championships Birmingham 2023 and Paris Paralympics 2024.

The champions will secure their berth for the Paralympics and the top three teams will qualify for the World Championships.
