FM calls accusations against Iran on Ukraine fabricated, unsubstantiated
TEHRAN – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian reiterated on Thursday that accusations against in the Ukraine war are “fabricated and unsubstantiated”.
Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a telephone call with Josep Borrell, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy.
Amir Abdollahian said Iran has repeatedly said that “war is not the solution” to the Ukraine war.
Iran has been saying that it has defense cooperation with Russia but it has not sold any weapons to Russia to be used against Ukraine.
“Also reiterated our crystal clear position on Ukraine: war is not the solution. Accusations are fabricated& unsubstantiated,” Amir Abdollahian tweeted.
The West has been claiming that Iran has delivered “kamikaze” drones to Russia in its war against Ukraine.
In a report posted on the Foreign Ministry website, Amir Abdollahian also described his talks with Borrell on the Vienna talks intended to revive the 2015 nuclear deal as “constructive”, and again insisted on readiness by Tehran to conclude the talks as soon as possible.
However, he said, the United States must put an end to its “double-standards” and show “real will” to restore the nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In the phone talks, the foreign minister again said, “We are quite committed to fulfill the rights of the Iranian nation,” according to the Foreign Ministry report.
‘Iran is anchor of stability in the region’
In his tweet, Amir Abdollahian said he had told Borrell that it is necessary that the European trio – Britain, France and German – and the U.S. set aside their hypocritical approaches about human rights situation in Iran, insisting that Tehran will not tolerate foreign interference in its domestic affairs.
“Addressing hypocritical EU3/US statements on human rights in Iran, strongly rejected any foreign interference,” the foreign minister tweeted.
The chief diplomat also said Iran will not be swayed by riots in the country, calling Iran the most stable country in the region.
“Iran is anchor of stability in the region,” Amir Abdollahian wrote.
Protests erupted in certain cities in Iran after Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, died in hospital on September 16, three days after she collapsed at a morality police station.
Immediately after her death rumors surfaced that she had died because of a blow to her head, an accusation vehemently dismissed by the police.
Forensic studies released on October 7 revealed that she had not died because of a blow to her head or other vital body parts.
“Based on the medical documents, a CT scan of her brain and lungs, examination of the corpse, pathology and necropsy, it was revealed that Amini’s death was not related to a blow to head or other vital organs,” the Forensic Medicine Organization said.
Mahsa Amini had been taken to police station to receive training on dress code along with others.
