Canberra festival to review movies in Iranian Nights
TEHRAN – The 2022 Canberra Short Film Festival will put its spotlight on contemporary Iranian short cinema in a program entitled “Iranian Nights”.
Sixteen films have been selected to be screened in the bipartite program, the first part of which will be held on November 11.
This section includes “The Savior” by Soheila Purmohammadi, “Solar Eclipse” by Alireza Qasemi and Raha Amirfazli, “A Winner” by Mehdi Mahai, “Rain” by Mehdi Barqzadegan, “Author” by Saeid Zareitabar, “Our Photo Memento” by Samaneh Lashgari, “One of Us” by Hossein Iraji and “Leber; Chromosome 17” by Shervineh Didandeh.
The second part will be organized on November 13 with the films “Silence Again” by Mohammad Alavi, “Katvoman” by Hadi Sheibani, “Hollow” by Babak Qaem and “Kefsan” by Akbar Shahbazi.
This section also features “The Statue” (“Peykareh”) by Mohsen Salehifard, “Paper Dolls” by Shabnam Qolikhani, “Split Ends” by Alireza Kazemipur and “Water, Wind, Dust, Bread” by Mehdi Zamanpur Kiasari.
Several other Iranian films also are competing in the festival, which will take place from November 4 to 20 in the Australian city.
“Leo” by Moein Ruholamini is among the films scheduled to be screened on the opening night and awards night.
“Water, Wind, Dust, Bread” will be competing in the documentary section, while the animated movies “Dot” by Mohammad Zare and “The Sprayer” by Farnush Abedi will be shown in the Future World category.
“Earthquake without Richter” by Farid Nikkhah will be showcased in the Experimental Film competition and “The Savior” by Soheila Purmohammadi will be screened in the World Cinema section.
In the Animation and Music Video section, “Thou Shalt Dance” by Abtin Yaghmaian and “The Crow” by Ahura Shahbazi are screened.
“How Should One Wait for Godot” by Arshia Zeinali has been selected to be screened in the Finale category.
