Qalibaf: Giving ‘yes’ or ‘no’ vote to FATF will fail to secure interests

TEHRAN – Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, a member of the Expediency Council and former presidential contender, has said accepting the FATF’s recommendations is “to our detriment”.

In an opinion piece published in the Sobh-e-No newspaper on Monday, he also said giving a straight “yes” or “no” to the FATF will fail to secure Iran’s interests.

Qalibaf said if Iran turns a blind eye to international mechanisms, it cannot get to know them in order to counter the threats posed by them.

“Their threats will not be lifted with our lack of presence,” Qalibaf added.
