TEHRAN - Ali Shamkhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, said on Wednesday that Iran will take strong preemptive strikes against any action that threatens security of national borders.

“We precisely observe establishment and development of military bases by extra-regional countries near our borders,” he said in a meeting in the northwestern city of Urmia.

He said, “During the past two years, anti-revolutionary groups which are being supported by certain regional and extra-regional countries have made any efforts to undermine security at the country’s northwestern borders, however, they failed by vigilance of the security apparatus and armed forces.”
