Iraq’s Maliki says Muslim nations rely on Iran to counter hegemons

TEHRAN – Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said on Saturday the world’s Muslim nations rely on the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to unify against hegemonic powers, ISNA reported.

Speaking at the 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, al-Maliki said that certain Western ideas, including communism and capitalism, were injected into the Islamic world with the aim of creating division among Muslims.

The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference under the theme of “Quds, Axis of Unity Among Ummah” opened Saturday morning and ended on Monday.
