TEHRAN – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Abbas Salehi was in the audience to see “Avantage”, a play on the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, at Tehran’s Hafez Hall on Tuesday evening.

Co-directed by Kamran Shahlai and Mohammad Larti, the play is about a football player in Andimeshk who is informed that he has been omitted from Iran’s national football team as the city is under a heavy bombardment by Iraqi warplanes.

“I watched the play ‘Advantage’. An honest narration of an incredible innocence. In the city of Andimehsk, 52 Iraqi warplanes bombarded the city for one hour and 45 minutes, and planted the nightmare of war in the heart of the city with lost corpses and the lasting worries. ‘Avantage’ masterfully depicts the life debris,” Salehi wrote on his Twitter account after watching the play.

Elham Nami, Amin Vahidipur, Reza Bahrami, Abuzar Saedi, Shadi Sayyadi and Arezu Karimi are the main members of the cast.
