Asian Games: Iranian athletes win three medals in Day 2
TEHRAN – Iranian athletes snatched three medals in the 2018 Asian Games Day 2 underway in Indonesia.
On Monday, Parviz Hadi took a gold medal in the men's freestyle 125 kg. Hadi, who had also won a gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, defeated Chinese Deng Zhiwei 7-0 in the final match to win Iran’s third gold medal.
Freestyle wrestlers Hassan Yazdani in the 86kg and Alireza Karimi in the 97kg had claimed two gold medals in Day 1.
Furthermore, Farzan Ashourzadeh won a bronze medal in the men’s taekwondo 58kg event.
South Korea’s Kim Tae-hun became the first man to claim Asian Games gold medals in two different weight classes in taekwondo after winning gold.
Ali Pakdaman seized a bronze in the individual sabre along with Hong Kong’s Low Ho Tin.
South Korean Gu Bon-gil defeated his countryman Oh Sang-uk 15-14 in all-South Korean final.
The 18th Asian Games stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
