TEHRAN – 808 tons of narcotics were confiscated in the Iranian calendar year 1396 (ending March 21, 2018) and the drug dealers were arrested and handed over to judicial authorities, the anti-drug police commander said on Tuesday.

“The discoveries increased 14% compared to the previous year,” said Mohammad-Masoud Zahedian, IRNA reported.

Zahedian said 75% of the mentioned amount was discovered in the eastern borders of the country, adding that hegemonic powers try to expand cultivation of narcotics in Afghanistan to strengthen terrorists and spread insecurity in the region.
