2.7 tons of drugs seized in Sistan-Baluchestan

TEHRAN – About 2,757 kilograms of narcotics have been seized and five drug dealers arrested in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, IRNA reported on Sunday.

“After weeks of reconnaissance, the police managed to arrest five drug traffickers and confiscate three Peugeots, 1993 kilograms of opium, two Kalashnikovs and two hunting rifles in Mehrestan and Iranshahr counties,” said Colonel Ahmad Taheri, the province’s deputy police chief.

He added that in another operation in Hamun County, 518 kilograms of heroin, 154 kilograms of opium, and 92 kilograms of opium extract were seized. Also two Toyotas, two Kalashnikovs and an enormous amount of ammunition were also found, he said.
