Igor Kolakovic announces Iran volleyball roster

TEHRAN – Iran national volleyball coach Igor Kolakovic has named his 15-men roster for the training camp in Serbia.

Team Melli will hold a preparatory camp in the European country and will play two warm-up matches with Serbia.

 Iran squad:

Farhad Salafzoon, Saeid Marouf, Mohammad Mousavi, Ali Shafiei, Saman Faezi, Amirhossein Tokhteh, Milad Ebadipour, Farhad Ghaemi, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour, Morteza Sharifi, Amir Ghaffour, Saber Kazemi, Meysam Salehi, Mohammadreza Hazratpour, Mehdi Marandi.

“My job is to support young players for the future of Iranian volleyball. It was entirely my choice which players would be invited to the national team camp. They all have high zeal and great potential. Efforts and performance in training will be the only criteria for who makes the A team. Team discipline is the first priority for me,” Kolakovic said.

“We will play two friendly matches with Serbia volleyball team. We have our own special dreams. I can assure you that we will play beautiful games and Team Melli do their best to win every match but it doesn’t mean we can beat all the teams,” the Montenegrin added.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League and the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria are the two most important competitions in the upcoming season for Iran.

The Asian Games also on the team’s 2018 calendar. The team currently sit in 8th place of FIVB’s senior rankings, ahead of much more experienced teams such as France and Serbia.
