TEHRAN – Gary Lewis, the UN resident coordinator in Iran, on Wednesday reiterated President Rouhani’s comments on recent protests, saying Iranian citizens must have the right to voice their concerns.
“Concerning the current situation in #Iran, as President @HassanRouhani has himself said recently, citizens must have the right to express their concerns,” Lewis said on his Twitter account.
“The best way for a country to meet and overcome legitimate challenges is through peaceful means and dialogue,” he added.
Since Thursday, groups of protesters have taken to the streets in several cities to voice their dissatisfaction mostly over economic issues.
