TEHRAN – The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday held a funeral procession for one of its diplomats who died while serving in Berlin.

Hamid Reza Mohammadian, who was an Iran-Iraq war veteran, suffered for years as a result of being affected by chemical weapons during the war.

Top diplomats including the Deputy Foreign Ministers Abbas Araqchi and Hassan Qashqavi, and Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi attended Mohammadian’s funeral, which took place two days after his body arrived in Tehran.

During the funeral, a message by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was read out.
