Indian festival to host Iran’s “Mermaid”

TEHRAN – Iranian director Amirmasud Aqababaian’s movie “Mermaid” will be competing in the 9th CMS Vatavaran International Environment and Wildlife Film Festival and Forum, which will open in New Delhi on Thursday.
The film is about Yunes, a survivor of a diving team from the Iran-Iraq war, who lives beside the Persian Gulf and tries to prove the oil companies are responsible for the water pollution in the gulf.
“Mermaid” will compete with “Holy (un)Holy River” co-directed by Peter McBride and Jake Norton from the U.S. and “Riverblue” co-directed by David McIlvride and Roger Williams from Canada in the Conversation for Water section of the festival.
