Scholar Saeid Hamidian to receive Hafez Medal
TEHRAN – Saeid Hamidian, an Iranian scholar who is known for his comprehensive research on Persian poet Hafez, will be honored with a Hafez Medal during a special ceremony to be organized by the Iranian Center for the Study of Hafez on Hafez National Day.
The ceremony will take place at the Shiraz branch of the National Library and Archives of Iran on Thursday, the center announced on Monday.
Hamidian is the author of “A Commentary on a Devotion”, a five-volume treatise containing the author’s 25 years of studies on Hafez.
Hamidian is the fifth scholar selected to receive the medal.
The previous four recipients of the Hafez Medal are Bahaeddin Khorramshahi and Salim Naysari from Iran, Hafez Giovanni M. D’Erme from Italy, and Charles-Henri de Fouchécour from France.
Several Iranian scholars, including Abolqasem Esmaeilpur, Hassan Bolkhari, Mir Jalaleddin Kazzazi, Ehsan Shamsi and Qasem Kakai, are due to deliver speeches at an academic symposium arranged on the sidelines of the program.
“Morality and Hafez” is the subject of the symposium.
