Inflation rate stands at 8.8% in rural areas

TEHRAN- The Statistical Center of Iran has announced that the inflation rate in the rural areas for the 12-month period ended in the last day of the fifth Iranian calendar month of Mordad (August 22) compared to the same period in the previous year hit 8.8 percent.

The center said the figure shows no change from the inflation rate in the rural areas for the 12-month period ended to the last day of the previous calendar month, Tir, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

The Statistical Center also put the point-to-point inflation rate in the rural areas at 8.9 percent in Mordad.

The center has put the inflation rate at 7.7 percent for the 12-month period ended in Mordad, while the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has put the figure at 10 percent.

The Statistical Center has put the country’s inflation rate at 9.8 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1395 (ended on March 20), showing 4.5 percent drop from its preceding year, while the CBI has put it at nine percent.
