“The Switchman” wins Signor Rossi Award at Italian festival

TEHRAN – “The Switchman”, an animation directed by Mehdi Khorramian at Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), won the Signor Rossi Award at the Rimini Cartoon Club in Italy on Sunday, the DEFC announced on Monday.

The Signor Rossi Award is dedicated to animated films produced by students at Italian and foreign animation schools.

“The Switchman” tells the story of a switchman who is waiting for his lover for many years, but the lover exists only in his imagination.

The Rimini Cartoon Club – the International Film Festival of Animation Cinema and Comics was held in the northern Italian port from July 17 to 23.

“The Servant” by Farnush Abedi and “Inflated Head” co-directed by Ruhollah Saadatmand and Amir-Puya Afzalipur were other DEFC’s productions screened at the event.

Six other animated films from Iran, including “Dogbin” by Atusa Ghaffari, “Redpoint” by Motahareh Ahmadpur, and “Shakrak, the Hero” by Hutan Purzaki and Naeim Tadayyon, also competed in the festival.
