TEHRAN – A Persian translation of “Kyogen Book: An Anthology of Japanese Classical Comedies” by Don Kenny, an American who performs kyogen in English in Japan, has recently been published in Tehran.
Published by the Iranian Academy of Arts, the book has been translated into Persian by Azadeh Salahshur.
Kyogen is a form of traditional Japanese theater that developed as a sort of intermission and comic relief between the solemn acts of noh, which is a traditional Japanese masked drama with dance and song.
The kyogen is very short, and the costumes, masks and props are simple and minimal.
