Two Iranian universities in QS top list

TEHRAN — Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings official website has placed University of Tehran and Sharif University of Technology among the world top universities in engineering and technology.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject highlights the world’s top universities in a range of popular subject areas, covering 42 subjects as of 2016. Published annually since 2011, the rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty, and international students. 

QS World University Rankings, an annual league table of the top 600 universities in the world, is arguably the best-known and respected rankings of its kind. Compiled by QS in close consultation with an international advisory board of leading academics, the rankings are widely referenced by prospective and current students, university professionals and governments around the world.

Based on the latest ranking released by QS, Sharif University of Technology is ranked between 471 to 480 and University of Tehran is ranked between 601 to 650 are the only Iranian representatives among world-class universities for the second consecutive year.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, and Harvard University are the top three universities respectively. All top 9 universities are either American or English. 

The first top Asian universities are Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and National University of Singapore holding the 11th and 15th place respectively.
