TEHRAN – Those who received convictions in relation to the post-2009 presidential election will be barred from running for a seat in councils, said the head of the central council for monitoring council elections.

Those who used to engage in activist campaigns prior to the Supreme Leader’s speech that year are exempt, but those who continued their activities after the speech will be disqualified, Mohammad Mahmoudi Shahneshin told Mehr on Wednesday.
