Iranian tanker with oil for Belarus arrives in port of Odessa

March 23, 2017 - 15:12

An Iranian tanker with oil for Belarus arrived in the port of Odessa, said the Deputy Director General of CJSC “Belarusian oil company” Sergey Mushroom.

“A tanker of Iranian oil by volume of 80 thousand tons arrived in the port of Odessa and have already unloaded”, – told S. the Fungus, quoted by the state Agency BelTA.

The first batch of oil will go to Mozyr oil refinery during the current week.

In February it was reported that Belarus bought 600 thousand barrels of Iranian oil from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). In a press release NIOC was noted that this is the first purchase of Iranian oil by Belarus after the lifting of international sanctions against Tehran last year.

Due to differences in approaches to determining the price of Russian gas between Russia and Belarus there was a conflict of non-payment. In response Russia has cut oil supplies to Belarus, which the volume of oil processing of Belarusian oil refineries to 2016 has decreased by almost 20% to 18 .6 million tons of oil.

In early February President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that for replacement of Russian oil in the Republic they are looking for other countries oil for processing at its refineries.
