TEHRAN – A book coauthored by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his colleagues Mohammad-Kazem Sajjadpur and Ebadollah Molai has recently been published.

The book titled “Transition in International Relations of Post-Western World”, was introduced during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran on Saturday.

Zarif and his colleagues completed the book in 2010 and handed it over to the Strategic Council for Foreign Policy.

Speaking at the meeting, Zarif said, “If we accept that hard power has been the determining factor in the long run in international relations and that it will also be the determinant of the future of international relations, we should accept that the Western powers will continue to maintain the strength of their own forces.”

“We also should accept that we can be interactive,” he added.

He called the book “an academic endeavor to think more about the future” and said that the view of the book is not the policy of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Many analysts are still studying the changes in the post-cold war environment but we should accept that the world is neither only the West nor is formed by the West,” Zarif mentioned.

“In the transition era, any miscalculation could result in exclusion,” he added.
