Movahedi Kermani takes over as interim Expediency Council chief

TEHRAN – The late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has been given a temporary substitute as meeting convener at the Expediency Council, ISNA reported on Wednesday.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani will take on the role on Saturday until new council members are appointed in March, the news agency reported.
Rafsanjani used the capacity especially to settle disputes among political bodies and personages during the 25 years since the council was launched.
Movahedi Kermani has been secretary general to the Combatant Clergy Association and is currently a Tehran interim Friday prayer leader.
