TEHRAN – “Khomeini, Oh Imam!”, a chant sung in praise of Imam Khomeini, the founder of Islamic Republic, by a group of university students weeks before the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has been registered on the list of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

A number of culture figures and officials attended a ceremony organized on Tuesday in Tehran by the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization to inscribe the song on the list.

The song was composed by Hamid Sabzevari and Hamidreza Shahangi put the words to music.

The student group also performed the song at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on February 1, 1979 when Imam Khomeini returned to Iran years after living in exile outside of the country.

The registration was conducted on the first day of the Ten-Day Dawn Celebration, which is annually held to commemorate the anniversary of the revolution.
