TEHRAN – The spokesman of the Guardian Council has said holding a mid-term election for the Assembly of Experts would require an official request by the assembly.

Speaking to Tasnim on Wednesday, Abbasali Kadkhodaei made the remark in answer to a question regarding the Guardian Councils’ position on how a successor for the late Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani would be elected.

Speaking on the same topic, Deputy Interior Minister Mohammad Hossein Moqimi said the ministry is ready for a mid-term election.
