Jannati to head election monitoring council

TEHRAN – Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati has been selected as head of the central council for monitoring incoming elections, according to a report by Mehr news agency published on Wednesday.

The council will monitor the presidential, council and mid-term parliamentary elections which will be held in May 2017.

The report adds that Abbas Ali Kadkhodaei has also been appointed to the position of the council’s spokesman.

Other members are Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi, Ebrahim Raisi, Mohsen Esmaili, Mohammad Reza Alizade, and Siamak Rahpeyk.
