TEHRAN – Iran’s cultural days opened at the National Library of Malaysia (PNM) in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Iran’s Ambassador in Malaysia Marzieh Afkham and Nafisah Ahmad, the Director of the National Library of Malaysia, and ambassadors of several countries in Malaysia, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Tuesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Afkham said that the event helps people of Malaysia and other citizens residing in the country to get to know more about the art, culture and civilization of Iran.

She added that Iran hopes and tries to take further steps to reinforce and expand relations with the Asian countries.

“Today the world needs more dialogue and peace, and in order to achieve peace and friendship we need to get to know each other more,” she remarked.

For her part, Nafisah Ahmad also emphasized that the event will help develop cooperation between the two countries, adding that the art exhibit and film screening sessions will help Malaysians learn more about Iran and Iranians. 

Exhibition of Persian handicrafts, photos and books have been set up at the library. The photos have been selected by the Iranian Young photographers Center, whose director Rasul Oliazadeh is also a guest of the event.

The film “Songs of Sparrows” (Majid Majidi), and “Azar, Shahdokht, Parviz and Others” and “Day of Satan” both directed by Bahruz Afkhami will also be screened during the three-day event.
