Sokolov appointed as coach of Iran’s women’s chess team

Dutch chess grandmaster Ivan Sokolov has been appointed as coach of three Iranian women players in the 2017 Women's World Chess Championships.
The prestigious competition will be held in Tehran in February.
Sokolov will come to Tehran on December 1 to start his work in the Iranian national team.
Three chess players namely, Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, Atousa Pourkashiyan and Mitra Hejazi will represent Iran in the event.
He had already worked with Iranian men’s team in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad in Baku.
Sokolov won the 1988 Yugoslav Championship.
Before earning the GM title, he became a FIDE Master in 1985 and an International Master in 1986. In 1987 and 1993 he won the Vidmar Memorial.
