TEHRAN – Iranian director Reza Mirkarimi is presiding over the First Feature Competition Jury at the Black Nights Film Festival, which is currently underway in the Estonian capital of Tallinn.

Indian director Sudhanshu Saria, German distributor Dorothee Pfistner, U.S. producer Joyce Pierpoline and 
Estonian music producer Michael Pärt are other members of the jury.

Thirteen films, including Iranian director Navid Danesh’s “Duet”, have been selected for the First Feature Competition.

In addition, twelve movies are competing in the official section. Iranian filmmaker Narges Abyar’s anit-war drama “Breath” is also competing in this section.

The film tells the story of four children whose mother had died a few years ago and their father decides to join the Iranian volunteers on the warfront following Iraq’s attack in September 1980.

The organizers also plan to pay tribute to late renowned Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami by screening “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami”.

Three screenings have been arranged for the montage documentary made by Kiarostami’s close friend and collaborator Seifollah Samadian.   

The festival’s closing ceremony will be held at Nordea Concert Hall on November 26.
