TEHRAN – Abbas Araqchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, said on Thursday that world powers see Iran’s scientific and defensive might as “irrepressible”, IRNA reported.

Araqchi made the remarks in a ceremony exhibiting a book entitled “Terrorism and Cyberspace in the Middle East’, a book which he co-authored.

Iran’s scientific capability in nuclear domain as the major force dragged world powers to the negotiation table, said Araqchi who acted as a leading negotiator with great powers.

“If our scientists were not capable, there was no reason for them [world powers] to join the nuclear negotiations,” said Araqchi. “We are deeply indebted to our nuclear scientists, especially those who were martyred in this path.”

He also underlined that the six world powers were united against the Islamic Republic in order to curb the country’s nuclear capabilities.

“But we insisted on our rights to have a peaceful nuclear program, because the future of our country is dependent upon this,” he pointed out.

Araqchi further emphasized that the Islamic Republic is determined in pursuing its goals and that “no country can impose its will on the Iranian nation.”

“They adopted various resolutions, increased sanctions, and put great amounts of economic pressure on the Iranian nation in order to meet their goals but, then again, they were forced to choose negotiation tables,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Araqchi praised the Iranian nation for their sacrifice, saying, “Whatever we have, including our security, honor, independence, and achievements, is a blessing bestowed upon us on account of those who lost their lives for the dignity of our country and nation.”
