TEHRAN – A former Iranian ambassador to Doha on Wednesday said that Qatar is seeking to improve relations with Iran.

Speaking to Radio Iran, Abdollah Sohrabi hailed the Qatari emir’s recent phone call to President Hassan Rouhani as a precursor to more intimate relations.

Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani telephoned Rouhani on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha feast on Tuesday, during which he urged Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and Iran to settle their differences through dialogue.
