TEHRAN – Reformist have elected Hojatoleslam Mohsen Rahami as the head of election committee as the next year’s presidential election is approaching, a reformist figure said on Saturday.
Arash Habibi, head of the reformists’ election committee’s secretariat, said that Rahami will hold the office in line with strengthening the role of the reformist faction in the next presidential election.
Iran will hold its next presidential election on May 19, 2017.
The election would be held earlier than usual so as not to coincide with the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan which starts in late May.
