Sandstorm hits southeastern Iran, 3,000 receive relief services

TEHRAN — Some 3,000 people have received relief services in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan which has been engulfed by sandstorm since Tuesday, Rescue and Relief Organization director said.

The storm is resulted from wind of 120 days, Nasser Charkhsaz told YJC.

Wind of 120 days which originates from the central deserts in Iran and blows toward Sistan-Baluchestan Province is a strong summer wind that blows from late in May to late in September. It's hot and carries abrasive sand and particles.

Over the past 48 hours, 6 villages in the province were hit by the sandstorm and some 3,850 masks and 25 packs of foodstuff were distributed among the storm-stricken citizens, Charkhsaz added.
