July 4, 2016 - 18:12

TEHRAN – Prolific Iranian oud virtuoso Shahram Qolami and Swedish bassist Bjorn Meyer will team up to give fusion concerts at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center on July 18 and 19.

The performances have been organized by Hermes Records, a Tehran-based label that distributes works by prominent musicians in Iran, Turkey, Italy, UK, France, Germany, Greece and several other countries.

Born 1965 in Stockholm, Meyer as a long-time bassist has collaborated with the late Iranian harp player Azita Hamidi, Swedish trio Bazar Bla and Swiss quartet
Ronin led by pianist and composer Nik Bartsch.

Meyer also collaborated with a Tunisian ensemble led by oud virtuoso Anouar Brahem during the 29th Fajr International Music Festival, which was held in Tehran in February 2014.

German bass clarinetist Klaus Gesing and Lebanese percussionist Khaled Yassine accompanied Brahem in the performances.
