TEHRAN – A novel entitled “Paternal House” has recently been published about author Jalal Al-e-Ahmad (1923-1969), who was a prominent political critic.

Novelist Shahriar Zamani gives a new image of Jalal and his life story to the younger generation, the Office of Islamic Culture Publications, which is the publisher of the book, said in a press release on Wednesday.

Jalal is the author of the acclaimed essay “Plagued by the West” (also known as “Westoxification”), in which the West is portrayed as the source of all major problems confronting Islamic countries. 

He wrote many novels and short stories such as “The School Principal”, “By the Pen”, “The Setar”, “Of Our Suffering” and “Someone Else’s Child”.

“The Tale of Beehives”, “The Cursing of the Land” and “A Stone upon a Grave” are among other works by Al-e Ahmad.
