TEHRAN - Iranian Majlis speaker Ali Larijani has said that reforms in Syria cannot be implemented through using weapons and carrying out explosions.
“Reforms in the country (of Syria) cannot be carried out with explosions and weapons,” Larijani stated during a joint press conference with Syrian Parliament speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham in Tehran on Tuesday.
“We support reforms in Syria,” Larijani said, adding, “All regional countries should have a democratic structure. However, attention should be paid to plots being hatched by certain regional countries that have dictatorial governments and are seeking to undermine this power (Syria) that has stood against the Zionist regime.”
The Iranian parliament speaker added, “The two nations of Iran and Syria have deep relations, and we have always hailed and described Syria’s stance in regard to opposition to the Zionist regime as exemplary.”
Laham thanked the Islamic Republic for the stance it has adopted toward Syria and stated that certain U.S. media outlets are making efforts to suggest that the Syrian Army and government are killing the people, but this is not the case.

In addition, Laham met with Saeed Jalili, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday.
Jalili said that reforms in Syria can be implemented only through the involvement of all groups.
