Iran to smarten up Chinese businessmen’s itinerary

May 2, 2012 - 14:53
TEHRAN -- The Iranian Tour Operators Association (ITOA) is currently preparing a plan which will make Chinese businessmen’s itinerary more attractive.

“Sometimes, Chinese businessmen accomplished their mission on one day and they have to remain unemployed for some other days,” ITOA Director Ebrahim Purfaraj told the Persian service of ISNA on Tuesday.

“Thus, we are preparing an additional itinerary, through which they will visit some Iranian attractions,” he added.

He said that the additional itinerary will be sent to Chinese tourism organizations after it is completed.

Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization has designated 2012 as the Year of Iran-China Tourism.

Iran has become a major destination of Chinese businessmen over the past decades.

In 2011, China granted Iran approved destination status, which allowed Chinese citizens to travel to the country in tour groups.

The World Tourism Organization (WTO) has estimated that the total number of outbound tourists from China will reach 100 million by 2020.
