Hegemons desperate about nations’ awakening: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN – The forces of imperialism and hegemonistic powers are making some moves which indicate they are desperate in the face of nations’ awakening, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with his Nicaraguan counterpart Daniel Ortega in Managua on Tuesday.

However, the nations should always be vigilant against the hegemonistic powers’ rash actions, he stated.

He also said that experience has shown that whenever the domineering powers face defeat, they immediately change their masks and pursue their imperialist objectives again behind their new masks.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad called for consolidation of Iran-Nicaragua relations and said the Islamic Revolution and the Nicaraguan Revolution (both occurred in 1979) are moving in the same direction to the benefit of the two nations.

He also emphasized the necessity to cement Tehran-Managua ties and said the Islamic Republic is keen to share its experiences with the revolutionary nation of Nicaragua and provide them with required facilities to help promote ties.

Iran has an influential role in regional and international peace

During the meeting, Ortega thanked Ahmadinejad for attending his presidential inauguration ceremony on Tuesday and said the Islamic Republic plays an influential role in promoting regional and international peace.

He went on to say that the recent moves of the United States and other Western powers are indicative of the fact that they are angry with the peoples around the world who are making efforts to maintain independence and freedom.

He said that at this juncture, the unity among nations, including Iran and Nicaragua, in the face of the capitalist system, which is suffering crisis, is helpful in achieving the nations’ objectives.

Ahmadinejad left Nicaragua for the Cuban capital of Havana on Wednesday to hold talks with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro.

During his trip, Ahmadinejad will also visit Ecuador.
