Tehran, Hanoi set to remove dollar, euro in trade

The seventh meeting of the Iran-Vietnam joint economic committee, which was held during January 7-8 in Tehran, decided on removing dollar and euro from bilateral trade, the IRNA news agency reported.

The decision will soon be announced officially by the central banks of the two sides, Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mehdi Ghazanfari stated on the sidelines of the meeting

The value of trade between Iran and Vietnam stood at $127 million in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, which ended on November 21, 2011. 

Iran’s ambassador to Hanoi, Seyed Javad Ghavam Shahidi, “both sides expect bilateral trade volume to reach $1 billion in the near future. Iran is considering joint investment in oil and gas, in the Vietnamese petrochemical industry and in the exchange of technical and training delegations,”
