Palestinian artist receives posthumous honor at Iranian festival

The young Palestinian artist was martyred in an Israeli air raid that targeted central Gaza strip in September, only a short time after he had submitted his painting to the festival organizers in Iran.
The closing ceremony was held at the Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) and attended by Basij Commander Mohammadreza Naqdi, IAA Director Ali Mo’allem Damghani, and several other artists and officials.
Secretary of the event Habibollah Sadeqi made the opening speech and expressed his thanks to the organizers who helped publish the books of the first and second editions of the festival.
Al-Hassani family was next honored and his father, who was present at the ceremony, donated his son’s painting to the Supreme Leader.
The ceremony continued with the handing out of awards to the winners. In the cartoon section the first prize was given to Naser Moqaddam (Iran), the second prize went to Carlos Augusto from Brazil and the third to Naji Benaji (Morocco).
In the painting section, Behrad Khodaii from Tabriz took the first prize, Behdad Panjehzadeh from Tehran took the second and Mahmud Azadnia from Mashhad took the third.
In the sculpture section, Azar Sheikh Bahaeddinzadeh took the first prize, Adnan Yahya the second and Mehdi Salahshur the third.
Hadi Arab-Narmi took the first prize of the drawing section, Sara Kaveh took the second and the third prize went to Adnan Yahya.
The photo section winners also included Mansureh Motamedi, Yusef Akbari and Mojtaba Kuchaki.
The jury also awarded the winners in the visual arts section including Fereshteh Alamishah, Alireza Chitaii, and Maryam Sajedi.
Sareh Shafieipur took home the first prize in the animation section, the second went to Ali Lotfi and the third to Mohammadreza Qahraman.
In the poster section, the first prize went to Alireza Hesaraki, the second to Moslem Alamzadeh, and the third to Zuhdi Al Adawi from Palestine.
