TEHRAN -- Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi is to leave Tehran for Tbilisi, Georgia, for a two-day official visit on Thursday, an informed source told the TEHRAN TIMES. Kharrazi's visit is in response to last year's visit of his Georgian counterpart Irakliy Menagarshvili to Tehran. During his stay, he is scheduled to meet with president, prime minister and parliament speaker of Georgia to discuss regional issues.

He will also attend a tripartite meeting which is to be held between Iran, Armenia and Georgia. During the meeting the three foreign ministers will discuss cooperation on anti-drug campaign, health, transportation and transit of goods. Kharrazi will also hold talks with his Georgian counterpart on Iran-Georgia Fourth Joint Economic Commission. They will also discuss the future visit of Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze to Tehran and that of Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri to Tbilisi. At present the trade balance between Iran and Georgia stands at $10 million a year.
