TEHRAN -- Secretary-General of the Women's Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran Zahra Mostafavi in a meeting with the women councillors from across the country advised them to take part in the councils with competence combined with humility and try to solve people's problems. She noted that the founder of the Islamic Republic late Imam Khomeini revived Islam, adding that the members of the city councils should try to revive the society.

The daughter of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution further referred to the life of Imam Khomeini, saying that the late Imam arrived in the city of Qom at the age of 21 and wrote his first book at the age of 27. She said that by the age of 40, the late Imam had written several books about morality, philosophy, mysticism and jurisprudence.

She also touched on the late Imam's campaign against the oppressor Pahlavi regime. Mostafavi said that after the late Imam passed away, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who was one of the late Imam's students and who was approved by the late Imam, undertook the leadership. She further said that the Iranian women should be thankful to God because the country's officials spare no effort to prepare the ground for the women to fulfil their potential.

The secretary-general of the Women's Society also called on the members of the city councils to be just and judge fairly, adding that city councils are the main pillars of decision-making and management in society and that the members of the councils should be patient and forgiving. The Women's Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran was founded in 1986 to elevate women's status and uphold women's rights in society.
