BANDAR IMAM KHOMEINI, Hormuzgan Prov. Iran Shahriar ship joined Iran's southern sea fleet on Tuesday. Deputy Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Shipping Lines (IRISL) for coordinating and planning affairs Mahmoud Mehranpour said the ship is the last of the six 27,000-ton multi-purpose ships which had been built in South Korean on Iran's order. Mehranpour hailed Iran Shahriar as the most modern vessel in its kind built based on latest world standards under Iranian engineers' supervision.
He said that IRISL is one of the well-reputed shipping companies in the Middle East for enjoying 80 ships with the capacity of carrying more than 2,400,000 tons of cargo. He added that contracts had been signed with Iranian and foreign companies for building 25 ships by next year. (IRNA)
