Oman's Sultan Qaboos Invited by President Khatami to Visit Iran

ABU DHABI Iran's Foreign Ministry envoy to Muscat Mohammad Sadr in the Omani capital Sunday hand delivered an invitation by Iran's President Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Khatami to Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Sa'id to visit the Iranian capital. The Sultan Qaboos accepted the invitation and said he would look forward to visiting Tehran at the earliest possible occasion. On the same day in Muscat, the Iranian envoy met with the Sultanate's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Yousuf bin-Alawi bin Abdullah, and with him reviewed Iran-Oman relations.
Yousuf bin Alawi told the Iranian envoy that President Khatami's proposition to the world leaders for a dialog between civilizations would eventually certainly offer a good portrayal of Islam to the world peoples. The Iranian envoy here Sunday also hand delivered an invitation by the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) of Iran, Hojjatoleslam Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri, to the President of the Consultative Council of Oman, Abdullah bin Ali al-Qatabi for participation in the first assembly of the Islamic Iinter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU) who indicated his desire to attend the assembly.
