Iran-Turkey Trade Volume Down in January

ANKARA The volume of Iran-Turkey trade exchanges stood at $37,154,000 in January, 1999, down by nearly $30 million, compared to the January of 1998, Turkish State Statistics Institute reported. Iran-Turkey trade totalled $66,362,000 in January 1998. The worth of Turkey's exports to Iran in January 1999 hit $5,562,000 and its imports from Iran stood at $31,592,000. Turkey exported $17,243,000 worth of goods to Iran in exchange for $49,119,000 worth of its imports from Iran in January 1998. Iran-Turkey trade was worth $625,354,000 in 1998, down by more than $328 million, compared to 1997. Crude oil constitutes major portion of Turkey's imports from Iran. The monetary value of Turkey's exports and imports stood at $1,773,139,000 and $2,177,018 respectively in January 1999. Decreases of 19.2 and 29.9 percent were recorded in export and import of Turkey in January 1999 compared to January 1998 respectively.
