4,000-Egg Easter Omelette for French Villagers

HAUX, France For the 21st year in a row, this southwestern village Monday celebrated Easter over a giant omelette. But this year's was the biggest yet, almost three metres (yards) in diameter and made up of 4,507 eggs. Villagers woke at the crack of dawn to break the eggs and mix in 25 litres of oil, three kilograms (6.6 pounds) of salt and pepper, 30 kilograms (66 pounds) of garlic and onion, 30 kilograms of bacon and 20 litres of milk.

Cooked in a pan three metres wide, the gargantuan omelette weighed in at 250 kilograms and fed around 1,000 mouths. (AFP)
